In the electronic production process, soldering work is essential. It requires not only assembling the components on the prototype circuit boards, but also requires that the joints must be firm and smoothy, so that the quality of the soldering technology impacts the success of electronic production directly. Every electronic enthusiast must master the basic skills of solder technology. Here are the most important points:

1. Select the right soldering iron
Soldering iron power should be determined by the pad size. For a bigger solder area and faster heat output, it’s better to use the bigger power solder iron. The solder iron power is usually
20W 25W 30W 35W 50W etc.30W power would be a good choice.
The iron head will form a layer of oxide after a long run time, and it is not easy to pitch tin. You can scrape away the oxide layer with a file, electrify the iron and put it into the rosin, tin coated then continue to use it. A new solder iron must be tin coated before using.

2. Soldering tin and flux
It’s better to use quality paste tin with a low melting point and high silver content which provides brilliant circuit board assembly quality.

3. Soldering method
The components must be clean and tin plated, because if the components are stored in the air, due to oxidation, an oxide film is attached on the component pin. There is also the other dirt so it’s better to scrape the oxidation before soldering, immediately coat it with tin, and then solder it. After this process, the components are easy to solder and virtually no soldering happens.

4.Soldering temperature and time
The electric iron temperature should be higher than the temperature of the solder tin, but only high enough so that just the iron tip kisses the rosin when it is smoking. If the soldering time is too short the solder temperature is too low, the solder melt point will be inadequate and will cause a rough PCB board PCB assembly surface and virtual soldering. When the soldering circuit boards time is too long, the solder will be easy flowing, and the components will be damaged by overheating.
The component pin should be fully immersed in the soldering tin, and dimly visible.

5. Inspection after soldering
It must be checked right after the soldering circuit boards, if there is any missing soldering, virtual soldering or short circuit due to the solder tin flow. Weld and components are caused by a short circuit due to the solder flow. It’s difficult to see the virtual solder. You can clamp the components pin and pull it. If there is any shaking you need to re-solder it.
